Episode 1. In 1984, Jean-Louis Costes, a young and audacious man from the Aveyron region, teamed up with Philippe Starck, an unknown underground designer, to create a fully unique café. Resembling a gigantic, translucent and futuristic bubble, this café was completely different from traditional Parisian bistros, and located in the ‘les Halles’ district, a controversial neighborhood in the midst of a major transition. It became the place to be, drawing in hordes of visitors, and making quite a stir.
Episode 2. In 1995, Jean-Louis Costes made a radical shift and inaugurated the Hotel Costes on Rue Saint-Honoré, a heartbeat away from the Place Vendôme, one of the most elegant and dynamic squares in Paris. Jacques Garcia, known for his refinement, mixing elegance with touches of baroque, was entrusted with the decor. Putting his exquisite craftsmanship to work, the interior designer gave life to this 18th century mansion, turning it into a fully unique 5-star hotel, breaking with the trendy designs of the time. The interior is characterized by opulence and a theatrical appeal, with revolutionary styles and superimposed elements from different time periods. Results: for 25 years, Hotel Costes has been seen as a timeless venue, emblematic of Parisian life, where eclectic crowds flow in and out, both day and night.
Episode 3. This year, Hotel Costes is writing a new chapter in its history. Jean-Louis Costes has chosen to entrust this immense project to the ultra-minimalist and illustrious Christian Liaigre to design a new and unique three-dimensional venue in Paris.
